The Genesis of Torg
Who'da thunk a group of drunk, drug-gobbling noise-mongers could even put a band together, much less write & record full-length albums & a slew of single releases, tour 7 different nations, get music and booze companies to sponsor them, and have their music featured on an MTV2 reality show? That's exactly what happened in the case of Torg in their continuing mission to "endumben" the masses.
Starting out in the late 90s, Torg was thrown together one drunken night by Foccocia Cannolli, Longwood Rockwell (formerly GG Duce), and Uncle Peco fer shits & giggles after doing a one-off reunion gig for their previous band. Their mission: drinkin', druggin', rockin', rollin' superstardom...though they'd need to write some songs first.
Initially recruiting Dr. Hip on drums and The Gimp on bass, they quickly tracked some tunes they wrote during their brief waking periods, culminating in the legendary (now sold-out) Electro-Pussy EP. Away they went, playing every horrific urine-crusted dive in Chicago and throughout the midwest. Some time later they re-entered the studio to pound out their first full-length masterpiece, Hot Yogurt Enema, on Clambake Records. Immediately Torg ventured out on a series of US tours of varying length, sharing the stage with the likes of The Mentors, Kill Allen Wrench, The Murder Junkies, Crowbar, Eyehategod, and Soilent Green.
The unstoppable juggernaut of success would roll ever onward. Torg received a coveted slot at the Milwaukee Metalfest playing with such hallowed bands as Suffocation and M.O.D. Around this time, Torg would receive sponsorships from such hallowed institutions as Jagermeister, In-Tune Guitar Picks, EMG Pickups, and Randy's Rolling Papers.
Finally came Torg's first tour of Europe with The Nerds. Spreading violence, mayhem, and random destruction through Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, and The Netherlands, Torg increased their fanatical following throughout the old world while attempting to drain every drop from every bar they would play.
Shortly after tracking the much-sought-after Flabby Road recordings, the band returned to the studio for their second full-length, The Dumbening, on italian-based Scarey Records. Torg returned to Europe on another tour (cuz it was so damn much fun), this time with Italian greats Long Dong Silver and their comrades from the St. Louis The Supermen. Again, the carnage was legendary, as this caravan of supergroups decimated the old continent.
More recently, the Torg neanderthals did their first tour of the west coast and southwest, and shared the stage with The Hellacopters and Nebula. When a major label A&R rep came to check them out, his impression was that the band was good but that Torg would "drink themselves to failure". This, of course, is targeted to be the title of the next record. All these miles traveled, gallons guzzled, and chemicals gobbled later, Torg is still doing what they do best...slugging it out in the dank, sweaty dives for beer.
Still...not bad for guys writing about enemas, rednecks, and farts, eh?
